Pipe Jacking
Pipe Jacking is a Trenchless Method of Installing Underground Services Generally Larger Than 900mm in diameter
What is Pipe Jacking?
Pipe Jacking is a trenchless method of installing an underground pipeline, however, unlike HDD or Pipe Cracking/Pipe Bursting the pipeline to be installed is assembled in the jacking pit and is then pushed by hydraulic rams into the ground.
Where can Pipe Jacking be used?
Pipe Jacking can be used anywhere where a pipeline needs to be installed under roadways, highways, bridges, railways. The limitations of Pipe Jacking is that it can only be done on pipelines that have a diameter larger than 900mm Health and Safety Laws prohibit a person to enter any pipeline that is smaller than 900mm.
Our Capabilities
We do not conduct the pipe jacking method however we partner with specialists in the pipe jacking industry to offer our clients a full range of specialized services to suit their project requirements.
A quick run-through of the Pipe Jacking Process.
The Pipe Jacking procedure starts with a jacking pit that is dug depending on the invert level at which the new pipeline need to be, the jacking setup is then installed, and pipeline sections generally constructed out of concrete or steel are then loaded length by length onto the pipe jacking ram, once the pipeline is jointed the hydraulic ram pushes the pipeline into the ground, a person/persons are then sent into the pipeline to remove the spoil which is then moved to the access pit and is taken out the access pit and is removed from the site.
Pipe jacking can be done to grade and the level is taken in intervals to ensure that the pipeline does not deviate from the desired level. Pipe Jacking like HDD can be done in any ground conditions, where rock is present, rock blasting is done.
